Search and Rescue teams called to assist injured snowmobiler

LOGAN — Emergency crews were called to assist a snowmobiler who crashed Thursday afternoon southeast of Cache Valley. The accident occurred near Buck Spring, south of Hardware Ranch.

According to emergency radio communications, the snowmobiler was riding with others when he crashed. The injured rider reportedly broke his leg in the accident.

Emergency dispatch operators received a 911 call from the group around 12:30 p.m. They were able to get GPS coordinates of the crash site.

Cache County Search and Rescue teams set up a command post at Hardware Ranch. Crews were able to use a side-by-side track vehicle to travel to the crash site.

A Life Flight helicopter was also dispatched to the scene.

The injured rider was alert and oriented, when rescue teams arrived on site. The medical helicopter landed shortly after.

Crews treated the injured rider and loaded him into the Life Flight helicopter. He was flown to Intermountin Medical Center in Murray, with non-life-threatening injuries.
