LOGAN — A 35-year-old Arizona man has admitted to traveling to a Logan park to try and have sex with an officer posing as a teenage girl last summer. Kyle Silvio Arcurio accepted a plea deal and will now wait to be sentenced.

Court records show, Arcurio appeared Wednesday morning in 1st District Court. He pleaded guilty to attempted rape of a child, a first-degree felony. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dismissed 11 remaining charges without prejudice, meaning they could be refiled in the future.

According to prosecutors, Arcurio contacted the undercover officer on an online messaging app on June 2. The officer was posing as a 13-year-old girl from Logan.

Arcurio told the officer he was from Ogden but later said he lived in California and travels to Utah often for work. He then began asking sexually explicit questions about the officer, and sent graphic pictures and videos of himself.

Arcurio said he would be traveling to Utah for work and later expressed interest in meeting. A time was arranged to meet at a park in Logan. When the defendant showed up, officers were waiting to take him into custody.

While being questioned, Arcurio reportedly told police, “he was a sex addict and had wanted something new.” He also had two condoms in his pocket, and knew he was speaking with a female under 18.

During Wednesday’s court appearance, Judge Brian Cannell accepted Arcurio’s plea agreement and waiver of a fair trial. He scheduled sentencing for March 22.

Arcurio remains in jail, being held without bail, since his arrest June 7, 2022. He could be sentenced to up to life in prison.

Thirsty pedos. Imagine explaining your behavior to a judge with kids and grandchildren. Good work LCPD. Keep your kids safe.
