Cache Valley Visitor’s Bureau seeking grant requests from local groups

LOGAN – The Cache Valley Visitor’s Bureau is seeking grant applications from local groups to support marketing and new event development activities.

“Our main goal is to increase hotel stays in Cache Valley,” according to Julie Hollist Terrill, the director of the  Cache Valley Visitors Bureau. “So, we’re looking for events and marketing that will bring people here overnight.”

The CVVB is offering multiple grants up to $1,500 in matching funds to support the efforts of groups to attract tourists to Cache Valley.

Applications are available at the CVVB offices in the Cache County Historic Courthouse. The deadline for submission of grant applications is 5 p.m. on Oct. 10.

Grants are available in two categories. The first is toward advertising existing events in markets outside Cache Valley. The second is creating events that will entice visitors to spend at least one night in an area hotel.

Hollist Terrill adds that qualifying events must be held from Nov. 15, 2022 to May 15, 2023. Another round of grant opportunities for events later in 2023 will become available in the spring.

Funding for these grants comes from transient room taxes collected by hotels in Cache County.

Out of area marketing funds assist events, activities, festivals, conferences and programs with advertising efforts outside Cache, Rich, Box Elder, Franklin and Bear Lake counties.

Previous grant awards have been made to organizations presenting outdoor events, art displays and festivals such as the Top of Utah Marathon, the Cache Valley Center for the Arts, the Cache Valley Cruise-In and the Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre.

Event development funds must be used toward expenses to establish a new attraction, event, activity, festival or program to be held in Cache Valley. Organizations may receive event development funding for a maximum of three years.

Previous event development awards have been made to the Grand Fondo, the Wasatch Back Relay, the Cache Smokehouse BBQ contest, the Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous, Fall Harvest Days at the American West Heritage Center and others.
