Cache Republicans set special election to replace county assessor

During a special election set for Saturday, the members of the Republican Central Committee will choose between two candidates to replace retired Cache County Assessor Kathleen C. Howell. They are Brett Robinson (left) and Kevin Hickman (right).

NORTH LOGAN – The Cache County Republicans have scheduled their special election to replace retired Cache County Assessor Kathleen C. Howell for Saturday, Sept. 24.

The party’s faithful will gather at the North campus of the Thomas Edison Charter School in North Logan to choose between two candidates.

They are interim assessor Brett Robinson and Kevin Hickman.

Robinson is a graduate of Utah State University with a degree in Finance and Economics.

He was a residential appraiser for the Cache County Assessor’s Officer from 2005 to 2007, then left to pursue an opportunity to become a commercial appraiser with one of the region’s most respected firms.

In 2010, he received a Certified General License from the state of Utah and returned to the County Assessor’s Office as a commercial appraiser in 2012.

Most recently, he was designated as interim assessor by Howell when she retired after 32 years as county assessor.

Hickman is a graduate of Mesa Community College with an associate’s degree. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University and a Certified Residential Appraisers License.

“I have tried to stay involved in politics most of my life in one way or another,” Hickman explains. “I believe that my educational background in Public Administration, paired with my profession as a Certified Residential Appraiser, is the perfect combination for the new Cache County Assessor.”

The candidate who wins the special election will serve out Howell’s unexpired term of office.

Only current members of the GOP County Central Committee are eligible to participate in the special election.

That includes precinct chairs, vice chairs, secretaries and treasurers; county officers and executive committee members; and Republican elected officials representing or residing in Cache County.

County and state delegates will not be part of this election, according to GOP chair Shellie Giddings.

The special election will take place starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The North campus of the Thomas Edison Charter School is located at 180 East, 2600 North in North Logan.

County republicans and retiring right before an election so Cache County citizens don’t get to vote for the replacement <–name a better duo

Removing your personal rights and freedom to choose your leaders by voting is the goal of republicans. An authoritarian dictatorship is the future they want for American. Use your vote to remove every republican from public office as soon as possible or your freedoms and rights will be gone.
