Pickleville Playhouse to present ‘The Addams Family’ once again

Pictured here are the infamous Addams family, as they will appear in the Pickleville Playhouse production of 'The Addams Family' starting Sept. 30. They are (from left) Hayden Davis as Pugsley, Dan Call as Fester, Derek Davis as Gomez, Jame Case as Lurch, Whitley Davis as Morticia, Kenzie Davis Kremin as Wednesday and Andrea Davis as Grandma.

GARDEN CITY – Here at the rustic Pickleville Playhouse, the Davis clan figure that if you’ve already got a smashing success for a fall show, why mess with it?

Why indeed?

For the fourth consecutive year, the Pickleville Playhouse will stage The Addams Family as its Halloween show. The production will debut on Sept. 30 and run throughout the month of October.

The surprise announcement was made in the third installment of an amusing cliffhanger video in which director Derek Davis and his wife Whitley Davis were supposed to tease a different fall show when they were interrupted and threatened by themselves as Gomez and Morticia Addams.

What?

Go with it.

The Pickleville Playhouse previously performed The Addams Family as its Halloween show in 2019, 2020 (despite COVID-19 concerns) and 2021. Local audiences seem disinclined to tire of the show – in previous years, The Addams Family sold out every performance.

Derek Davis was also happy to announce that – once again – nepotism ruled the day when it came to cast assignments for The Addams Family.

“Yes,” the director confessed, “nine out of the 14 cast members are immediate members or married into the Davis family.

“Here we go again,” he added.

The largely-veteran cast will be led by Derek Davis himself, who will return as Gomez, the debonair but wildly off-center titular head of the haunted Addams family.

As before, the director’s real-life wife – Whitley Davis – will portray his stage wife, Morticia Addams.

The sensational Kenzie Davis will return as the love-struck but slightly homicidal Wednesday Addams, but with a new name – Kenzie Davis Kremin.

That’s because she recently married her Beauty and the Beast co-star Nathan Kremin, who will join the cast of The Addams Family to play Wednesday’s dim-witted love-interest Lucas.

The towering James Case will be returning to the Pickleville stage with his deadpan but hilarious impersonation of Lurch, the Addams family’s undead butler.

Also returning are Dan Call, who will play the moon-struck Uncle Fester Addams for the fourth consecutive year; Shayne Taylor as Mal, Wednesday’s less-than-thrilled prospective father-in-law; and Andrea Davis as the demented Grandma Addams.

Newcomers to the cast of the beloved Halloween production are Jaxon Haynie as the precocious masochist Pugsly Addams and Whitney Davis Folkerson as Alice, a downtrodden wife with hidden depths.

Rounding out the cast will be Sharli Davis King and Chelsea Davis Haynie as dancing Addams ancestors.

The Addams Family will debut on Sept. 30 and run for 18 performances through Oct. 22.

Due to the show’s popularity, the Pickleville Playhouse will present three shows each Saturday at 12:30 p.m, 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Those triple-headers are scheduled for Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.picklevilleplayhouse.com and can be expected to sell like hotcakes.
