After 600k votes were cast – results are in for Best of Northern Utah 2022

LOGAN – In only its second year, the Best of Northern Utah contest has grown significantly, once again outpacing expectations. Residents from Preston to Paradise and from Garden City to Garland have let their voices be heard to determine which businesses and services in Northern Utah truly are the best.

Presented by Cache Valley Media Group, Cache Valley Daily and title sponsor Campbell Snacks, home of Pepperidge Farm, the second annual Best of Northern Utah contest highlights the very finest in business that our area has to offer, from burgers and pizza to mechanics and realtors. It’s an opportunity for owners, employees, customers and fans throughout the community to let their voices be heard. And Northern Utah spoke up in a big way: more than 1,100 business nominations were received and over 600,000 votes were cast in 185 different categories.

“In the short time we’ve been doing this contest, we’ve been blown away at the response by our community, by local businesses and by their loyal fans,” said Cache Valley Media Group Owner and CEO Kent Frandsen. “It’s blown me away the way the community has embraced this contest. We saw more businesses get nominated this year and double the number of votes!

“To this day, you can still drive around town or stop in a business and see them celebrating last year’s win on a sign or a billboard. We’re excited to see even more businesses celebrate their victories this year.”

Cache Valley Daily and Cache Valley Media Group once again teamed up with Elite Insights to bring legitimacy to the contest, as well as transparency in the voting process, contest rules and execution. Elite Insights manages dozens of similar contests around the country.

“Our Campbell’s Snacks bakery in Richmond is renowned for making Pepperidge Farm cookies and Goldfish crackers,” explains Senior Human Resources Manager Sheila Reyes at Campbell’s Snacks. “We have been an instrumental part of the Cache Valley community for nearly 50 years and will continue as an active partner with our community and neighbors making delicious and nutritious snacks for the whole family. It is an honor to partner with the Cache Valley Media Group to recognize the Best of Northern Utah.”

Gold and silver award winners have been crowned in 10 consolidated categories: Activities and Entertainment, Business and Services, Food and Beverage, General Services, Home and Garden, Lifestyle and Beauty, Medical, Schools, Shopping, and Vehicles and Services. Starting Wednesday, June 22, winners will be displayed at BestofNorthernUtah.com and on the glossy pages of the 2022 Best of Northern Utah magazine.

Winners will be announced and celebrated on 10 local radio stations over the coming weeks and months, as well as in the Best of Northern Utah magazine. Besides celebrating winners, the magazine is designed to serve as a free guidebook and directory for both locals and visitors seeking the very best that Northern Utah has to offer.

“It’s amazing how the magazine has a shelf life of so many months,” Frandsen added. “We’re still seeing the 2021 issue being utilized as a reference, and I think that really speaks to its value and quality. It’s the finest local guidebook out there.”

“A lot of businesses claim to be the best in their line of work,” said Ryan Frandsen, vice president of sales for Cache Valley Media Group. “However, knowing that a business has been voted the best by so many in the public gives you confidence that you’re choosing a great business to help you with whatever you’re in need of.”

Small businesses are what make a community work, Kent Frandsen added.

“As a small, family-owned business ourselves in Northern Utah,” he explained, “we felt a duty to showcase the small business community and celebrate their successes. When small, local businesses thrive the whole community benefits.”

This is a fake contest. You can basically buy your position and computer generate your votes. The rankings are meaningless.

Fake, like your name? Still steaming over getting your feelings hurt in Primary, I see. You hate mormons, you hate Utah, and now you hate local businesses. Go away, loser. You’re pathetic and you know it.

Let’s be honest. These ‘awards’ are bought. A business that pays can have a ballot emailed to the same multiple customers every day. The results are the reflection of a number of repeat votes, by the same hand-picked supporters. If cache Valley residents were given only one vote each, the results would be markedly different. Businesses that don’t (or can’t) pay never make it to the top.

Not to start a conspiracy theory, but Cache County has about 130k population. They received 4 times that number of votes. There are a few people in box elder county, and 1 or 2 in Rich county. Most people I know didn’t vote. So the same people must have voted over, and over, and over. Or perhaps dead people got ballots and voted.

It’s not 130,000 people (including infants and toddlers) voting 4+ times each, but about 3000 people voting 200 times each. It is extremely unfair to the valley’s legitimate, hard-working business owners to label this ‘the people’s choice.’

I avoid every single one of those businesses because of bad experiences with them

    • Blayne June 29, 2022 at 12:57 pm Reply

Did you think about how dumb your comment is before you posted? You’ve had “bad experiences” with every single business who won? Over 100 businesses? Perhaps the problem is you.

We live in a time where dishonesty needs to have the spotlight put it. I don’t care if you are a democrat, a republican, a mormon, an atheist, she, them or all of the colors of the rainbow. The truth is the truth 99.9% of the time. And too often, because of how easily information is communicated, a lie can be told and that becomes the easily swayed recipients’ truth. No ethics. That’s exactly what this is. Pure crap.

I, for one, will be boycotting all of the businesses within this publication. And I hope more people will join me. They are an absolute disgrace.

So, you’re basically against any company that uses some form of marketing?
I don’t think they will miss your business. I have lived in the valley my entire life,
and have used or been to most of these businesses at some point
or another and have had great experiences every time.
You’re telling me The Island Market, or Als is out to get people? Give me a break.
They are loved in the valley for a reason – they do good work
