PRESTON – Franklin County Medical Center (FCMC) is building a 24,000 square foot, two-story medical building adjacent to their medical center. The $9.3 million building will house the family practice doctors on the lower floor and the upper floor will give a place for visiting doctors from other hospitals and clinics to bring their specialty services to the community.

Franklin County Medical Center is continuing to grow their Southeast Idaho county medical facility and Darin Dransfield CEO is leading the efforts. .

This new, two-story building will take the doctors from the Willow Valley and Specialty Clinic, bringing better access, accommodations, and services to the community.

Franklin County Medical Center is growing to meet the healthcare needs in Southeast Idaho,” said Stevie Emerson, the director of marketing and communications for FCMC. “As the population of the county grows, we need to expand our health care to meet the demands of today and plan for the future.”

FCMC management feels like they need more space to comfortably accommodate new services on top of the ones they have practiced for generations. Right now, the doctors are working in a 5,000 square foot area. The new facility gives them 12,000 square feet to do the same work.

“Building the new medical facility is an example of the commitment the administration had for coordinated, quality healthcare,” she said. “We have a ‘All Tiled Up’ donation campaign going to help offset the costs of this new building.”

The campaign and donor wall was just one of the many initiatives Allyson Wadsworth, the Foundation Director, passionately pursued over the past few years.

In response to her recent passing, FCMC has received an overwhelming number of requests, support, and donations in her honor. The administration decided to dedicate the entire wall in Allyson’s honor so that her passion, generosity, and service will be forever remembered.

Richard Westerberg, Chairman of the FCMC Board of Trustees, said the new building is a game changer.

The new building almost quadruples the size of the space we currently have to see patients in our regular clinic and the specialty clinic,” he said. “We believe, for Franklin County and the surrounding area, it will create an incredible opportunity to have state-of-the-art medical service in our hometown.”

Darin Dransfield, hospital CEO, said he is always trying to find improvements to the hospital.

“We work daily to be the premier provider and healthcare facility of choice for the residents of Franklin County,” he said. “Our new Medical Office building will provide our patients and providers with an exceptional healthcare experience they deserve.”

This state-of-the-art facility allows the small-town hospital to keep pace with the growth of the community and surrounding areas.

“This building will allow us to attract more qualified physicians to our area to take care for all of our family’s needs,” Dransfield said.

Paul Smart, the CFO of FCMC, said this medical building is a big deal for the community.

“Living in a small community limits what procedures you can have done,” Smart said. “We can do a lot in our small hospital to keep health care here instead of going to another hospital somewhere else.”

The new building will also have some procedure rooms for simple patient care.
