Sky View High School

SMITHFIELD — Law enforcement was called to Sky View High School Monday on an alleged threat. The incident was reported around 11:30 a.m.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi said 911 dispatch operators received a threatening call directed at the school. Following protocol, deputies secured the school and investigated the legitimacy of the threat.

Bartschi explained that deputies found no actual danger to the students but as a precaution, students were kept in class while they followed up on leads.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the incident, which is criminal in nature, and hope to identify any person or persons involved in this threat.

Bartschi said the Cache County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously to ensure all students and faculty of the Cache County School District are kept safe.

Deputies are asking anyone who might have information about the threat to contact the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.

It was a little intense for us parents! Something that I thought was really smart, is that both my kids thought to text me and tell me that they were okay, and exactly which classrooms they were in! Not sure if that’s something they’ve been taught, but I never really thought until today about how smart that is! Then if anything happens, I know exactly where in the school my children are! I am so thankful it turned out okay and very grateful for the officers who take their jobs so seriously in order to protect our children!
