SALT LAKE CITY — Caucus night for the Cache County Republican Party will be held on March 8th. It is the night that a lot of decisions are made in Utah when it comes to the upcoming elections.

Within Utah’s Republican Party, they hold a Caucus convention system both at the county and state level and delegates are asked to make some of those important decisions, they sometimes decide who the nominee for the party will be for the election.

So, becoming a delegate is important in the state. On KVNU’s For the People program earlier this month, Leslie Carpenter said she would like to get more people from more diverse backgrounds to try to be a delegate.

“I think it’s important that we start getting younger generations a little bit more educated on how our political system works in Utah, because we’re having decisions that are being made for us and we’re the ones who are going to be having long-feeling impacts of those decisions. We need to get some skin in the game,” she explained.

The Women’s Leadership Institute is holding an interactive and informative workshop where you can learn the process of how to be a delegate and how you can get you and your neighbors involved in creating better communities.

The workshop will be held Friday morning, February 25th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Salt Lake City Chamber Board Room (located at 201 South Main Street, Suite 2300 in Salt Lake City).

Carpenter is the founder of Become a Delegate, a training program that educates voters on how to run for state and county delegates.

Through this program she hopes to help people more easily influence what candidates come out of the party conventions.
