Woman dies after vehicle crash in Riverside

RIVERSIDE — A 38-year-old Beaver Dam woman was killed in a car crash Wednesday morning. The accident was reported at approximately 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 4400 W. and SR-30.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cade Brenchley said the woman was driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan, heading south on 4400 W. when she failed to stop at the intersection and struck a semi-truck that was hauling a trailer full of gravel.

“We haven’t determined why,” said Brenchley, “but the woman failed to stop at the stop sign and went through the intersection, going southbound, and struck the side-dump trailer, right in front of the back wheels. She was killed instantly.”

The identity of the woman is being withheld until extended family are notified about the accident.

Brenchley said the woman’s body was turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s Office, to complete an autopsy. Troopers are still investigating what caused the woman to run the stop sign.

“There was no impairment. The phone was destroyed and we have no idea if she would have been distracted by her phone. Her medical condition is a slight possibility but nothing major.”

The driver of the semi, a 47-year-old man from Cache Valley, was not injured.
