Elite Hall to host three nights of dancing

. Built in 1915 Elite Hall and it's spring-loaded floor still attracts people for dancing and other activities.

HYRUM – Hyrum Museum is sponsoring Jazz Nights at Elite Hall, located at 98 W. Main St in Hyrum, on Feb 13, 14 and 15. The USU Big Bands, directed by Dr. Jon Gudmundson and Dr. Greg Wheeler, will lead a live jazz band for dancing the night away on Utah’s only spring-loaded dance floor.

The dances start each night at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are only $10. Free dance lessons will be given by the USU Big Band Swing Club beginning at 6:00 pm.

Dinner is also available Friday and Saturday nights for $25 (dinner and dance).

“This is an amazing event with an elegant atmosphere that you won’t want to miss,” said  Jami J. Van Huss, Hyrum City Museum Director.

Tickets are available at the door and at cca.usu.edu (click on “Buy Tickets” tab).

“Jazz Night at Elite Hall is one of the greatest annual events that is hosted in Cache Valley,” Van Huss said. “We invite everyone young and old, to come support two great causes—the Larry Smith Jazz Scholarship and the Elite Hall Restoration.”

Renovations are planned to begin in April 2020 so the community’s support is making a real difference.

Elite dance hall is not the only spring loaded dance floor in Utah. While it might be the only one in use, there is also one in American Fork at the old Apollo Dance Hall.
