LOGAN — A 52-year-old Logan man has admitted that prosecutors have enough evidence to prove he tried to hold a woman against her will and sexually assault her. Daniel Mingott accepted a plea agreement that could still send him to prison.

Mingott appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning. He pleaded “no contest” to the reduced charges of attempted forcible sexual abuse, a third-degree felony; and attempted aggravated kidnapping, a class A misdemeanor.

Judge Brian Cannell explained to Mingott that while technically pleading “no contest” does not admit guilt, it is viewed just as a “guilty” plea in court.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Dane Murray told the court how, in September, Mingott reportedly held the victim in a bathroom while trying to rape her. The suspect continued to assault the woman until she pushed him out of the room and locked the door.

During a previous preliminary hearing, the victim testified how she and Mingott originally had a mutual relationship. After several months, though, he allegedly became emotionally and physically abusive. He would steal her medications, frighten her, and tell family members that she was emotionally unstable.

The woman tearfully told the court she started recording her interactions with Mingott, fearing her own safety. She claimed he was trying to destroy her.

Mingott did not speak during Tuesday’s hearing, except for waiving his rights for a trial and entering his plea.

Judge Cannell ordered Mingott to undergo a pre-sentence report about his criminal history. He also scheduled sentencing for March 9.

Mingott is originally from Peru. He was arrested in September. He is being held in the Cache County Jail without bail, and could face up to five years in prison.

The “victim” is my mother and is in fact extremely emotionally unstable. I feel bad for this poor man who happened to cross paths with my manipulative lying mother.

Grayson, Wow! As your Aunt, why don’t you think about your history as a wife beater of two wives, beater of a step-mother giving her two black eyes and a broken nose, pulling a gun in a road rage incident resulting in the loss of your concealed carry permit, your sadistic serial killer like killing of animals, etc. before publically posting this crap just because you hate your mother for taking the side of your ex-wife and mother of her grandson. But then of course you would defend another domestic abuser.

Grayson, WOW! As your aunt and sister of the “victim” you should think about your history as a domestic abuser yourself of two wives and a step-mother. I’m not surprised you would defend another man who committed domestic violence just because you hate your mother for taking the side of your ex-wife and mother of your son, your mother’s grandson. You have an on-the-record history of domestic violence and road rage with a gun and now a public comment as a horrible son.

I know how victim blaming works. I’ve been there. My family was like this. Leave them behind, girl, your own family should never treat you this way. And your son sounds like he’s quite the projector.

The real victim was I, a victim of domestic violence, I was living in a verbally abusive relationship, this story is upside down, I signed a plea agreement like No Contest, because It would had been so hard to me to prove in a trial that the offence that I commited lacked of the intention, I was induced to commit the crime, I fell in a set up, a seduction scenario was turned into an attempt to rape scenario with big slanders, I have never been in this situation in my entire life, I have never beated or assault sexually a woman or had criminal nor police records before this bitter experience, I am disapointed about American Justice, It is oppresive, and intimidate, whosoever wants evidence about this comment can ask me for that, I have solid evidence that include multimedia evidence to prove that the victim in this story is a consummated abuser and potential danger to the american society, the victim is emotionally sick and needs help, in God I trust she can get this help, I hope her life be blessed with peace and love, and BTW I already forgave her for every wicked thing she did against me. I am grateful with Grayson Greener who I did not have the pleasure to meet or contact ever, I know he Knows his mother even more than me, and his comment is very accurate because this is the very truth.
