Suspicious incident leads to an officer-involved shooting in Preston

accident,

PRESTON, IDAHO — Police are investigating an officer involved shooting Tuesday night in Preston. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Stokes Marketplace.

A press release from Franklin County Sheriff David Fryar and Preston Police Chief Dan McCammon said officers and deputies were responding to a report of suspicious activity at 217 South State. It ultimately lead to an officer firing his weapon.

The press release did not provide any details about what led to the shooting or the extent of any injuries.

Since both law enforcement agencies were involved in the shooting, the investigation has been turned over to the Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Team, which has representatives from all of East Idaho’s law enforcement agencies. The Pocatello Idaho Police Department is leading the investigation.

Because both deputies and officers were jointly involved, the press release stated that there will not be any further comments made by either the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office or the Preston City Police Department.
