Missing person alert cancelled after USU student found safe

Missing person alert issued by the USU Police Department for Christian R. Barajas. He was later found safe.

LOGAN — Police have called off the search for a Utah State University student who had been reported missing. Officers issued an alert for Christian R. Barajas Thursday afternoon, after the 19-year-old was last seen on campus November 7.

USU spokesman Tim Vitale said Barajas contacted police after the missing-person alert was issued. He was safe and not in any danger.

In October, police issued a similar alert for Baxter F. King. The 19-year-old had reportedly texted another individual and then disappeared. The student had also missed work, alarming family and friends who described that it was unusual for him to be out of contact for so long.

Cache County Sheriff’s deputies later found King deceased in his car, in the Temple Fork area of Logan Canyon. The deputy was responding to a call from a group that had seen a vehicle matching the 19-year-olds. There was no evidence of foul play.
