Three Region 11 teams remain in top 10 of latest high school football RPI rankings

LOGAN – The latest rankings from the Utah High School Activities Association have been released and three teams from Region 11 remain in the top 10. The top 10 teams in 4A at the end of the season will get a first round bye in the state football playoffs, held the weekend of October 25-26.

With Sky View’s win over Mountain Crest Friday, the Bobcats move up to the #2 spot overall in 4A, trailing only Park City who is the only unbeaten team in 4A. Green Canyon’s dominating performance over Bear River helped them move up in the rankings as well; this week the Wolves are right behind Sky View at #3.

The Region 11 standings are as follows:

  1. Sky View (6-1, 3-0)
  2. Bear River (3-4, 2-1)
  3. Mountain Crest (2-5, 2-1)
  4. Green Canyon (5-2, 2-1)
  5. Logan (2-5, 1-2)
  6. Ridgeline (2-5, 0-3)

By contrast, the Week 7 RPI rankings are as follows:

  • Sky View #2
  • Green Canyon #3
  • Bear River #9
  • Mountain Crest #11
  • Ridgeline #15
  • Logan #16

It is conceivable that a team could be ranked higher in the state playoffs than another Region 11 team with a better region record.

The week 8 schedule for Region 11 teams has Sky View at Logan (with the game broadcast on KVNU 610 AM/102.1 FM and on 106.9 FM/1390 AM The FAN); Mountain Crest at Bear River (with the game broadcast on 107.7 FM in Cache County and 104.9 FM in Box Elder County); and, Green Canyon at Ridgeline (with the game broadcast on 100.9 FM and 104.5 FM).
