SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah lawmakers are expressing support for a federal “red flag” law that could take guns away from people believed to be a danger to themselves or others following a pair of mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Republican U.S. Reps. Chris Stewart and John Curtis have voiced support for the law in response to the weekend shootings that killed more than 30 people.

Several states have enacted similar legislation, but the idea has failed twice in Utah. Republican state Rep. Stephen Handy says he plans to introduce it again.

A bipartisan proposal encouraging states to adopt red flag laws is gaining momentum in Congress following mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.

President Donald Trump signaled his support in a White House speech on Monday.

You can not legislate away evil. You could legislate a thousand laws and take away every gun but you would not stop the killings. As God is taken out of everything to do with government and the public square and the moral base of our country deterioates, the more and more we will see of evil actions.
