2019 Cache County Fair and Rodeo offering big names in entertainment

This year's Rodeo and will begin Wednesday Aug. 11, at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo

The Cache County Fair and Rodeo is just a month away and will be enjoyed by thousands at the completed Cache County Event Center August 8-10.

“This year everything at the event center will be fully functional,” said Fair Manager Lane Parker. “Everything is nice and working inside, and all around the building that was dirt last year has been grassed over and landscaped for this year.”

Parker said the rodeo is set to be a big show because it has the third highest pay-out as prize money in Utah. “The biggest names in rodeo nationwide come to our event,” he said.

The Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls will be part of the rodeo’s entertainment. “It took us several years in advance reservation to get them here,” Parker said. “They’re a pretty spectacular group.” The Riata Girls perform rope and riding tricks and have been around for 57 years.

Other entertainment that is free to the general public include the country band The Belllamy Brothers, who will be performing Saturday night, stopping at the fair on their way to their shows in Reno. The fair offers nightly entertainment, and Parker said the free entry into the gate is the county’s way to keep the community involved.

“We want our fair to be accessible to the community. We have a lot of volunteer help that makes us able to shift more money to providing entertainment to the general public,” Parker explained. “There are a lot of volunteers in Cache Valley that really step up and make it happen.”

The fair has also implemented a new computer program called FairEntry that allows exhibitors to enter their exhibit items online prior to the fair. “In the end, it should make it much, much easier for everyone coming to the fair as an exhibitor,” said Parker. He also said the program will make getting information out to the public about the judging results more efficient.
