Verla Smart Hyer

January 10, 1933 – May 4, 2019

Verla Smart Hyer, 86. Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, passed away May 4, 2019 at Sunshine Terrace. She was born January 10, 1933 in Dayton, Idaho, the daughter of Veril David and Rosella Hannah Hyde Smart. She graduated from Westside High School in 1951.

She married the love of her life and eternal companion, Rey Lars Hyer in the Logan LDS Temple on July 8, 1955. She lived and raised her family in Lewiston, Utah, four sons and one daughter, she loved her family and grandchildren.

She was active in the LDS church serving in the Young Women, Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School and Ward Librarian.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rey Lars Hyer, parents, sisters Glenda (Arlo) Bodily, LuJean (Joseph) Viehweg, brothers Demar (Edith), Marlow (Barbara), Boyd (Phyllis) and grandchildren, April and Joshua. She is survived by her children; Gill (Holly) Lewiston, UT; Brad (Kriste Hull) Peoria, AZ; Gordon (LeAnn) North Ogden, UT; Janet (Scott) Okelberry Wellsville, UT; Alan (Lucinda) Bellbrook, OH, 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 more coming this summer; a brother David (Mary Ann) Dayton, ID and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 10, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Lewiston 3rd Ward Church Building, 16 South Main Street, Lewiston, UT.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 11 at noon at the church with interment at Lewiston Cemetery.

Many thanks to all of those who offered loving care in Moms behalf. Special thanks to the Sunshine Terrace nurses and the care givers from hospice for their loving care.
