Utah State Track & Field records five personal-best finishes on day two of the Clarence Robison Invitational

PROVO, Utah – Utah State’s track & field team had a handful of first-placed finishes and multiple personal-best performances on the second day of the BYU-hosted Clarence Robison Invitational.

Three Aggies advanced to the women’s 100-meter hurdles finals as sophomore Talie Bonds was the top runner in the event, clocking a time of 13.90. Freshmen Alexis Koetitz (14.93) and Abbey Bryant (14.95) finished eighth and ninth overall, respectively.

Senior Michala Zilkey finished second in the hammer throw, recording a personal-best toss of 57.36 meters (188-2.25), as that distance remains 10th on the all-time outdoor program list. Junior Jensen Mosman ran a personal-best 200-meter time of 25.19, finishing 12th overall.
In the heptathlon, junior Alyssa Hirschi-Swenson placed first in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 1.70 meters (5-7), while Bonds finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.84.
On the men’s side, the high jump duo of sophomore Hunter Simonsen and senior Leaguen Fray tied for first in the event, as they both recorded heights of 2.03 meters (6-8), while freshman Chandler Obray also recorded the same height, finishing seventh overall.Senior Carl Jones Jr. and sophomore Austin Lane advanced to the finals of the 100 meters, which will take place Saturday. Jones recorded a fifth-place time of 10.70, while Lane clocked in at 10.93, finishing ninth overall. Jones also advanced to the 200-meter finals as he placed eighth with a personal-best time of 21.58.

Sophomore Christian Sonnenberg threw a personal-best 15.32 meters (50-3.25) in the shot put, finishing 10th overall. Rounding out Friday’s personal-best performances was freshman Zach Meyer, who clocked in a 110-meter hurdle time of 15.04.

The Clarence Robison Invitational concludes Saturday. The day begins at 9 a.m. with the women’s javelin, while the first track event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., with the 10,000-meter run.
