SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State education officials say administration of Utah’s new test taken by students in grades 3-8 was suspended Friday due to technical problems with the computer system used to submit data, with some students receiving error notices.

Board of Education officials said they were reviewing the situation with the vendor, Questar, to determine whether the problem affected validity of submitted data.

Officials said the problems stopped more than 18,500 students from submitting data for the new test, known as RISE, but that Questar believes the data from the tests can be recovered and that they expect the issue to be resolved by Monday.

As of Thursday, more than 185,000 tests had been completed and submitted for scoring. Nearly 1 million tests will be taken over the testing period.
