Party delegates elect local GOP officers

Party delegates, not voters, chose the top leadership spots for Cache County’s Republican Party during its recent organizing convention.

Chris Booth was re-elected as County Party Chair, Shellie Giddings is the newly elected Vice Chair, with Pam Budge as Secretary and Gary Saxton elected as Treasurer.

“In the coming year, we will be focusing on strengthening the caucus system,” said Booth, “and strengthening relationships with elected officials both state and local.”

The Republican Party is alive and well, according to Booth, who said more than 250 people turned out for the April 12 convention, double the numbers they had two years ago.

Delegates also discussed minor changes to the party platform. Republicans aren’t happy that 40% of Cache County is owned and managed by the federal government.

“We believe we can take back control of those lands and manage them better,” said Booth.

“This governing model will help ensure that local voices are not only heard, but integrated into the management of our public lands,” the Platform states.

Democrats in Cache County held their Convention and Central Committee Meeting in March.

Leadership for both the state Republican and Democratic parties are also up for grabs.

Those decisions will be made at the upcoming annual state party conventions which will be held on May 4 at Utah Valley University for Republicans, and on June 22 at Park City High School for Democrats.

Remember gentlemen and ladies that the democratic party has a block of 60,000 Muslims with whom you may not assimilate or, for that matter, proselyte. since Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy made this possible through the 1980 Resettlement Act the name of the game is get out the vote. Remember too the woman from the Muslim organization ISP(U) who was here April 3rd who said they have “chosen SLC for a pilot program to train 50 teachers how to grasp the needs of their Muslim students”. Well, they did that in 2016 and on March 23rd 2019 federal district judge Cynthia Bashant booted CAIR out of all San Diego Public schools especially for violating ‘separation of state’ statutes.
