LOGAN — The owner and president of Nyman Funeral Home, Lonnie Nyman, has been arrested for a third time, accused of violating a protective order. The 44-year-old Millville man was booked into the Cache County Jail Wednesday night, a day after prosecutors filed a motion in court to have his bail revoked.

Court records show, Utah Attorney General assistant Ryan Holtan filed a motion in 3rd Judicial Court on Tuesday alleging that Nyman had attempted multiple times to contact a witness in one of his other cases. The communications occurred earlier this year while the defendant was on pretrial supervision after being allowed to post bond a second time.

Holtan’s motion asked the court to have Nyman arrested and held without bail. It concluded, “the defendant is a danger and risk to the public, as reflected by his ongoing and continued criminal conduct.”

Nyman has been charged with three new counts of violating a protective order, a class A misdemeanor. He is already facing 19 charges including sexual exploitation of a minor, pattern of unlawful activity, tampering with a witness, obstruction of justice and other offenses.

Nyman was originally arrested October 30, suspected of contacting a boy through a social media app commonly used to arrange sexual encounters. Detectives began investigating him after a family member found photos of the teen on the suspect’s computer tablet.

Authorities later learned that as the investigation started, Nyman allegedly contacted the victim on the same app again, telling him that his family had found out about their relationship. He later called the boy and told him that if anyone questioned him, he should lie and say, “all we did was visit.”

Police later arrested Nyman again on suspicion of writing fraudulent checks when he tried to post bail. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Court records show he is scheduled to appear again in court April 5. The cases have been transferred to Salt Lake County.

Nyman has close ties to the community. He was born and raised in Providence. He graduated from Mountain Crest High School and later attended USU, before receiving a degree in Funeral Services from St. Petersburg College in Florida.

Sounds like this guy should be working with the Trump administration. He uses a lot of the same tactics that all of Trumps people did. Maybe we will find the hush money payments. Or is this “fake news” too.

Our society today has a big problem, we will blame anyone or anything except for the accountable party. Mr. Nyman, needless to say, has some issue he needs to solve but we do to as individuals as well as a society.
