LOGAN — A 38-year-old Logan man has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl.
Carlos A. Garcia was sentenced in 1st District Court Tuesday morning. He previously accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to an amended charge of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dropped three remaining charges against him.
According to court staff, Garcia was ordered to spend 10-years-to-life in prison. Judge Brian Cannell angrily handed down the sentence after the defendant denied having sex with the victim.
Garcia was arrested last year after engaging in multiple sex acts with the girl in June. The victim knew the defendant, who was considered to be a person of trust to her.
