LaPriel Marie Sorensen Bair

August 16, 1922 – January 20, 2019
LaPriel Marie Sorensen Bair, our loving wife, mother, grandmother (28), great grandmother (82) and great great grandmother (11) was reunited with her parents, siblings and many other family and friends on Sunday, January 20, 2019.
LaPriel was born August 16, 1922 in Howell, Utah to Elmer and Blodwin Sorensen. There she was raised and met her sweetheart, Mearl Kay Bair. After Mearl served a Spanish American Mission and LaPriel worked at a bank in Salt Lake City, they married in the Salt Lake Temple, just before Mearl left to serve in the Navy. They were married for 74 years.
Their family of five children was raised in Garland and Providence, Utah.
Together they served as President of the Paraguay Mission when it first became a mission. Later they served a mission in Guatemala and as MTC Director in Mexico City. They were assigned by the Church to work in Ghana, Africa and then served as the Mexico City Visitor Center Director. They also served in the Logan Temple for many years.
LaPriel was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life and served in many church callings, including Primary President, Relief Society President, Stake Young Women’s President. She also loved visiting teaching.
LaPriel is survived in death by her husband, Mearl and five children and their spouses: Ted and Pat (Nelson) Bair, Sue Ann and Jerry Capener, Merlynn Gunnell, Byron and Pam (Ivie) Bair and Brent and Cassie (Larsen) Bair. She is also survived by a brother, Ray Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, at the Providence 3rd Ward Chapel on 355 Canyon Road in Providence, UT at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a viewing held on Friday night, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home on 162 E 400 N in Logan, UT.
