Renee Stanton Christensen

Renee Stanton Christensen passed away peacefully in her Logan home on Christmas day, 2018, at age 92 after a brief illness. She was born April 30, 1926, in Hyrum, UT to Leroy William and Florella Nielsen Stanton, the fourth of five children. Renee attended Hyrum schools and after graduating from South Cache High School, worked in the Ogden Defense Depot as a Clerk Typist for over five years. After her children were in school, she worked as a Deputy Assessor in the Cache County Court House for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. She married Grant F. Christensen on June 25, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Grant and Renee raised five children and three grandsons. They have nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren that brought much joy and happiness into her life. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are so grateful for her love, support and example over the years.

Renee was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions and callings throughout her life. She loved children and thoroughly enjoyed serving in the Primary and Nursery for many years. She loved her ward family, and was a faithful friend to many sisters in her service as a Visiting Teacher. She also enjoyed the many years that she and Grant served together in the Logan Temple Baptistery. Renee enjoyed visiting with family and friends, gardening, word puzzles, and shopping with her daughter, Sharon. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for any and all who would come to visit. She and Sharon particularly enjoyed their participation with the “Sassy Ladies” social group in recent years. Renee was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.

She is survived by her husband, Grant, five children: Dennis (Alison) Christensen of Riverside, Ca., Sharon of Providence, Larry (Cheryl) Christensen of E. Hartford, Ct., Todd (Peggy – deceased) of Logan, and Cory (Lynda) of Salt Lake; also by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Heartfelt thanks to family members, friends and neighbors who have been so loving and caring to Renee. Special gratitude goes to her daughter Sharon for extending herself in amazing ways to provide for her care, companionship and tender mercies over the years. The family is also very grateful to hospice home care representatives who briefly assisted with her care and comfort. We love you and miss you Renee.

Receptions will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan on Friday, December 28 from 6 to 8pm, and Saturday, December 29 at 11am followed by a memorial service at noon. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed online at www.allenmortuaries.net.
