Two men help firefighters extinguish trailer fire

Firefighters finish extinguishing camper fire Tuesday Aug. 28, near 1000 West 600 North in Logan.

LOGAN — Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a trailer fire Tuesday morning, thanks to the assistance of two passerby’s. The fire was reported just after 8:30 a.m., near 600 South 1000 West.

Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said the fifth-wheel camp trailer was travelling southbound when the driver noticed smoke. After pulling over, they found flames coming from the back passenger-side of the camper.

Two men were traveling by at the same time. Both had fire extinguishers in their vehicles and were able to begin dousing the fire.

When fire fighters arrived on the scene, they entered the trailer and finished extinguishing the fire.

Humphreys said investigators believe the fire was caused by a tail-light that shorted out, sparking the blaze.

Southbound traffic along 1000 West was reduced to one lane while crews extinguished the blaze.
