LOGAN — A 34-year-old Logan man was arrested Monday night, accused of trying to cause a traffic accident and harm his wife. Bruno Osorio-Ronchi told officers he let his anger get the best of him and lost his temper. He was booked into the Cache County Jail on $10,000 bail.
According to a probable cause statement, Logan City Police responded to the two-vehicle crash near 1250 N. Main around 7:00 p.m. Osorio-Ronchi, who was driving a VW Bug, first told officers that his wife, who was driving a GMC Yukon, rear-ended his car when he came to a stop after changing lanes.
Two witnesses later told officers that it was Osorio-Ronchi who caused the crash. They described seeing his car swerve from the middle lane trying to cut off the Yukon. When he pulled in front of the SUV, he braked and then put his car in reverse and accelerated, backing up into the Yukon.
Osorio-Ronchi’s wife explained to officers that the suspect then walked up to her vehicle and started blaming her for the crash. He told her to get out of the SUV and return to his apartment, which she refused.
No one was seriously injured in the crash.
On Wednesday, Osorio-Ronchi appeared by video from jail in 1st District Court. He was assigned a public defender and ordered not to have any contact with the victim. He has been charged with aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. He is scheduled to appear again in court July 31.
