In a press release on Thursday, the Utah Department of Transportation announced the scheduled permanent closure of the intersection of 1800 South and U.S. Highway 89/91. The closure will be in effect as of Wednesday, July 25th.
UDOT says the reason for the closure is safety purposes and is due to the re-alignment of the intersection of 1000 West and Hwy. 89/91 where a traffic signal will soon go in. Crews are reconstructing 1800 South into a cul-de-sac, which will no longer permit direct access to the highway.
Motorists should now use 1600 South as the alternate access to the highway until the new signalized intersection at 1000 West is completed and activated. Those who would like weekly construction progress updates on this intersection project can be placed on the email list by contacting the project team at US91&[email protected] or by calling (800) 278-4282. All work on this project is subject to weather conditions, and manpower, equipment and materials availability.
