Utah teacher drowns while paddleboarding at Willard Bay

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say a Utah teacher drowned while paddleboarding at a state park near the Great Salt Lake.

KSL-TV reports the body of 46-year-old Brandon Larsen was recovered Wednesday morning from Willard Bay after the Perry man went missing while paddleboarding Sunday.

Willard Bay State Park manager James Morgan says crews began searching for Larsen Tuesday after officials learned that his car was sitting in the parking lot for a few days.

Morgan says Larsen’s death is being investigated as a drowning because he was on the water and wasn’t wearing a life jacket. A Sunday evening storm may have contributed to the death.

Larsen taught business and computer programming at the Weber School District.
