Residents express concern over downtown rezone

Loan's Downtown Alliance place to have a Scavenger Hunt to promote businesses leading up to Valentine's Day.

LOGAN – Theron Olsen lived in Logan early in life then moved away. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Logan Municipal Council he said it is great to be living here again. As Logan plans for the future and the changes he said hopefully mistakes won’t be made.

He addressed the council, commenting on the possibility of a downtown rezone which would allow for higher-density housing.

“There is great concern that is now in the laps of each of you as you sit before the members of the community today that we don’t create something that is going to become an eyesore, a thing that blocks the view of our temple, that creates a criminal element, possibly, a number of things that really need to be highly considered by each of the members of the council.

Some of those who attended sided with Olsen, but others had ideas about how to make Downtown Logan better.

After listening to public comment, the council decided to announce its decision at the June 5 council meeting.
