LOGAN – It was his first convention as chairman of the Cache County Republican Party and Chris Boothe said last Saturday’s event went very well. Now he’s looking forward to the State Republican Party convention coming up this weekend.
Boothe said there were two contested races at the local convention. One was for Legislative District 4, a contest between Greg Merrill and Dan Johnson. He said Johnson received 51 votes to Merrill’s 43.
“We’ll go to the June 26 primary for that one,” he said. “The other contested race we have is for the County Council race in the southeast district seat there between the incumbent Gordon Zilles and Mike Johnson. Gordon won that one going away 70.2 percent.”
He said it will pay to go early to the state convention because parking is expected to be hard to get.
