LOGAN – With a cast of 61 talented performers and the Northern Utah Symphony Orchestra performing, the Cache Valley Civic Ballet is presenting its fifth production of “Sleeping Beauty”, which should be exciting for both the audience and those who participate.
Executive Director Sandy Emile said the production has been in rehearsal for three months with many beautiful costumes being created. It will be performed Friday, March 23 and Saturday March 24 at 7:30 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m.
“It’s the fifth time we’ve ever done ‘Sleeping Beauty’,” she said. “Twice we’ve only done Act III, the other times we have done it with a full-length production. This year, again, we will be doing the full-length production with five full scenes of choreography and storytelling. It’s a wonderful fairy tale. Almost every child knows this story of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and its wonderful music that Tchaikovsky wrote to tell the story and then enhance the story of the music with ballet, with costumes, with sets and it makes a very fluid, very elaborate evening of storytelling.”
Emile said the production has lush backdrops to take you inside the castle of Aurora from her christening to her 16th birthday party. The finale is comprised of all the fairy tale characters at the wedding of Aurora and the Prince.
