NEW YORK (AP) — A couple of years ago, it appeared the police had Harvey Weinstein dead-to-rights, legally. An actress who claimed he groped her reached out to authorities who sent her back to Harvey as part of a sting operation. Wearing a recording device, the woman got Weinstein to acknowledge on tape that he had touched her against her will and apologized. So — why wasn’t Weinstein charged? It’s a question the governor of New York wants answered. He has ordered a review of the case. The move comes just after a group of powerful women in Hollywood called for a reopened investigation. Members of the Time’s Up questioned whether Weinstein was able to use his influence to help make the case go away.

NEW YORK (AP) — Harvey Weinstein’s movie making firm is paying a financial price for his misdeeds. The Weinstein Co. has filed for protection under federal bankruptcy laws. The filing comes as a private equity firm has stepped forward with a buyout plan for the company — which has been reeling since last fall, when the allegations of its co-founder became public. Meanwhile, The Weinstein Co. is releasing any victims or witnesses from any nondisclosure agreements. It’s been reported Harvey Weinstein used non-disclosure agreements to keep those accusing him of misconduct from telling what they knew, effectively buying their silence.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — She told her story to the news media. And she has told her story to the police. Between the two, a woman who claims Steven Seagal molested her is looking to get a measure of justice. Faviola Dadis says the action film star sexually assaulted her after inviting her to a casting session at a hotel in 2002. She says Seagal reached under her bikini top, grabbed her nipples and grabbed her genitals soon after the “audition” began. She said she promptly ended the audition and left deeply shaken. An attorney for Seagal denies the allegation Dadis made — as well that made by another woman at the same news conference in Los Angeles yesterday. The attorney says the accusers’ accounts “are completely fictitious and totally made up,”

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The defense asked for three months. They got three days. The trial judge in the Bill Cosby sexual assault case has given lawyers a few additional days to get ready for the retrial — but that’s it. Steven O’Neill’s decision means jury selection will begin April 2, instead of March 29. The defense sought extra time after the judge ruled last week that prosecutors could have as many as five other women testify against Cosby. The defense said it needs time to prep for the additional witnesses.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — She’s flirted with the idea for months now. And now Cynthia Nixon has said “yes” — she is running for New York governor. The actress who starred in “Sex And the City” has sent out a tweet declaring her candidacy. She will challenge incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the state’s Democratic primary in September. It’s expected to be a longshot. The race pits Nixon, an openly gay liberal activist who has never held political office, against a two-term incumbent who some say has presidential ambitions.

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — A 20-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to charges he drove onto and damaged the Iowa baseball field made famous by the 1989 “Field of Dreams” movie. The Telegraph Herald newspaper of Dubuque reports Austin Pape of Dyersville entered a written plea before his arraignment set for yesterday. Investigators say Pape has acknowledged driving on the field in January. His attorney says Pape will work with prosecutors on a resolution to the case.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The movie is called “Isle of Dogs.” But at a recent event for the film, one of the stars got caught taking a catnap. Bill Murray does the voice work for one of the characters in the Wes Anderson movie, which screened Saturday at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. The 67-year-old actor read a poem about dogs and answered questions from the audience, along with the rest of the cast. But Murray dozed off when the questions centered on the moviemaking process.
