It’s the Weekend – March 15, 2018

It’s the St. Patrick’s Day weekend! Musicals, concerts, a Shamrock Shuffle and a special shopping night for the ladies are all going on this weekend in Cache Valley.

West Side High School presents <a href=”” target=”_blank”>“The Music Man,”</a> Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday nights with performances starting at 7 pm each evening in Dayton, Idaho.

It’s <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Ladies Night Out</a> in Historic Downtown Logan on Thursday. Multiple businesses will have special deals, giveaways, and sales Thursday night. Bring your girl friends and shop downtown Logan.

Baby Animal Days aren’t too far away. The American West Heritage Center is <a href=”” target=”_blank”>looking for volunteers</a> to help with the annual event. Visit the center any time Thursday or Friday between 9 am and 5 pm to find out about volunteer opportunities.

Learn about home, garden and recreation at the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Bear River Valley Showcase</a> taking place Friday and Saturday at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds. There will be dozens of vendors, food trucks, demonstrations and prizes.

If you’re into sports, USU softball opens a week-end series with Boise State with games at 3 pm <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>Friday</a> and <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>Saturday</a>, and one more <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>Sunday</a> at 12 noon at Laree and LeGrand Johnson Field.

<a href=”” target=”_blank”>Utah State gymnastics</a> faces in-state rival Southern Utah University in the Spectrum Friday night. The gymnastics meet begins at 7 pm.

Are you good at putting words together? If so, you should participate in the 13th annual <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Scrabble Scramble</a>. It’s Friday night at 6 pm at the Logan River Golf Course and all proceeds benefit Bridgerland Literacy.

Richard Elliott returns to the newly renovated USU Daines Concert Hall, Friday at 7:30. Elliott is the principal organist for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He will be participating in the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Campbell Organ Festival</a> and the performance is free.

Four Seasons Theater Company presents the high-spirited musical comedy <a href=”” target=”_blank”>“Thoroughly Modern Millie.”</a> Performances begin Friday and continue through March 26th. Showtimes are at 7:30 pm with Saturday matinees at 1 pm at Sky View High School.

Saturday is St. Patrick’s Day! Wear something green and participate in the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Shamrock Shuffle</a> 5K and 1 mile run at the Smithfield Recreation Center. The race begins at 8:30 a.m.

The first <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Easter Egg Hunt</a> of the season is at Little Wonders in Nibley. There will be two hunts, one for those 3 years old and older, and a Little Hunt for children 2 years old and younger. The hunts begin Saturday morning at 10 am.

Family Art Day at USU’s Merrill-Cazier Library is Saturday, from 11 am to 2 pm. This month’s ac-tivity will connect you with <a href=”” target=”_blank”>“The Built Environment: 130 Years of Growth, Development and Change on the USU Campus,”</a> an exhibition by Utah State University Libraries.

The <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Rapid Transit Wheelchair Race</a> is Saturday afternoon from 1-3 pm at Mt. Logan Middle School. Challenge your friends and the race is for people with or without disabilities. Wheelchairs will be available if you don’t have one. 

Celebrate St. Patrick’s day with live music at <a href=”” target=”_blank”>The Cache</a>, <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Mulligans</a>, <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Caffe Ibis</a>, <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Why Sound</a> and <a href=”” target=”_blank”>The Eagles Lodge</a> on Saturday night.

Enjoy hot cocoa, cookies and a ton of student talent at <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Poetry and a Beverage</a> (or more affec-tionately referred to as “PoBev”). It’s Saturday night at 9 pm in the USU Taggart Student Center.

Utah State Ducks Unlimited hosts their annual <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Cache Valley banquet</a> on Saturday at the Coppermill. The banquet is an evening dedicated to Utah’s wet and wild natural resources and runs from 6-10 pm.
