…HIGH WINDS TONIGHT FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL WYOMING…
An approaching cold front and strong mid level winds mixing to
the surface will bring high winds to the Green Mountains and
Natrona County.
…HIGH WIND WARNING IS CANCELLED…
The National Weather Service in Riverton has cancelled the High
Wind Warning.
Winds have decreased across the area. Therefore, the high wind
warning has been cancelled. Wind gusts to 40 to 45 mph will
continue in some areas until dawn.
…HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM MST THIS
MORNING…
* TIMING…Strong winds continuing late tonight before after dawn
Monday.
* WINDS…Southwest 35 to 45 mph with gusts 70 mph.
* OBSERVED WINDS…A peak wind gust of 81 mph was recorded on
Wyoming Boulevard on the south side of Casper at 1131 PM
Sunday.
* IMPACTS…Travelers along Interstate 25 may experience strong
cross-winds. Travelers along highways 789 287 and 220 from
South Pass to Casper should prepare for strong winds, along
with possibly blowing and drifting snow. Extreme blow over
risk expected for trucks pulling light weight and high profile
trailers.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
