UT Martin beats SE Missouri State 72-66

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Matthew Butler scored 25 points and Tennessee-Martin beat Southeast Missouri State 72-66 on Saturday afternoon in a regular season finale.

Butler was 8 of 16 from the field including five from deep for the Skyhawks (10-21, 5-13 Ohio Valley Conference) who snapped a four-game losing streak. DelFincko Bogan added 17 points and Parrish Hewitt had 15 points and led the team with nine rebounds.

UT Martin was up 37-31 at the break and back-to-back 3-pointers by Butler and a Hewitt layup pushed it to 47-34 early in the second half. Southeast Missouri State surged 16-3 after that to tie it 50-all with 5:04 left. Butler and Darius Thompson each hit a 3-pointer to help the Skyhawks move ahead again, 62-56, with 1:23 to go and they held on for the win.

Ledarrius Brewer scored 16 points for the Redhawks (14-17, 8-10).
