Tilghman saves Monmouth in 93-89 3OT thriller over Siena

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Austin Tilghman scored 24 points and sank four free throws at the end of the third overtime to lift Monmouth over Siena 93-89 on Sunday.

Jordan Horn’s jump shot tied it at 89 with six seconds left before Tilghman was fouled and made two fouls shots. Tilghman stole the inbounds pass with 1.2 seconds left and was fouled again.

Christian Bentley converted a 3-point play with 19 seconds to go in the second overtime to pull Siena to 85-83, and after a Manny Camper steal, Horn made two foul shots to tie it. Tilghman’s half-court shot at the buzzer hit the back iron to send it to a third overtime.

In the first OT, Monmouth’s Ray Salnave sank a pair of foul shots to tie it at 74 with six seconds left and Ahsante Shivers missed a 3-point attempt as time expired.

Tilghman made 12 of 18 free throws as Monmouth’s (10-18, 6-10 Metro Atlantic Athletic) was 29 of 40.

Khalil Richard led Siena (8-21, 4-12) with 23 points. The Saints turned it over 21 times.
