It’s the Weekend – Jan. 25, 2018

If you’re in the mood for a plunge into icy cool waters, robotics competitions, or swashbuckling action you can find it all this weekend.

Get cold for a good cause at the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Bear Lake Monster Winterfest</a>. Most of the events will take place at the Bear Lake State Park Marina on Saturday, including a <a href=”” target=”_blank”>chili cook-off</a> at 12 noon, a Monster Outdoor Expo from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Cisco Disco</a> fishing tournament and the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Monster Plunge</a> which takes place at 2 p.m. Come with your friends, in costume, and take a dip in the cool waters of Bear Lake. All funds raised support Common Ground Outdoor Adventures.

The <a href=”” target=”_blank”>VEX Robotics Super Tournament</a> is Friday at Bridgerland Technical College. It’s an all-day event as teams compete in various robotic competitions, and they get to introduce themselves to the best robotics and automation companies in Utah.

This weekend is the debut of Music Theatre West’s production of <a href=”” target=”_blank”>The Scarlet Pimpernel</a>. It’s a swashbuckling, action-adventure musical everyone can enjoy. Performed on the stage of the Ellen Eccles Theatre, <a href=”″ target=”_blank”>performances</a> are this Friday and Saturday night and continue through next week.

Show off your skills at Cherry Peak Ski Resort this Saturday at the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Rockstar Rail Jam</a>. It takes place at the terrain park beginning at 12 noon. Participants will be judged by a point system and there will be prizes and free swag.

If you are planning a wedding this coming year, you definitely need to attend this weekend’s <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Bridal Faire</a> at the Riverwoods Conference Center. Meet dozens of vendors and get ideas on how to make your special day absolutely perfect. Admission is free and the Saturday event goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday night you can cap off the weekend with <a href=”” target=”_blank”>PoBev</a> at the USU Taggart Student Center. Poetry and Beverages will go from 9 p.m. – 11 p.m. It’s a mix of original poetry, sharing verses of your favorite song, or that sheepish poem someone wrote in 5th grade.
