LOGAN – A Logan historian is heading a drive to create a Logan-Cache Museum. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Logan City Council, Darrin Smith said he has a huge historical collection but he’s getting older and his children, like many others, don’t have an interest in maintaining it.
He said a group of individuals have come up with an idea of a Logan-Cache Museum.
“I want to see a museum as a wagon wheel, where a Logan-Cache Valley museum is a central hub for other museums, like the (Daughters of the Utah Pioneers) and the Hyrum (Museum).
“Jami (Van Huss), at the Hyrum museum, doesn’t see a conflict and she’s on our committee. The people at Special Collections (at Utah State University), they are in harmony because they know we are not going to tread on their things.”
The council liked the idea of helping out, and councilmember Jeannie Simmonds agreed to represent the council on the museum committee.
