LOGAN — A 31-year-old former Logan man, accused of downloading child pornography, has asked a judge for more time to consider a possible plea deal. Jeffrey L. Detton is charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

Detton appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning. His public defender, Shannon Demler told the court that prosecutors had made them an offer. The two of them had discussed it. He asked the court for more time so Detton can discuss the offer with his family. The details of the plea agreement were not disclosed.

Court records show charges and an arrest warrant were filed against Detton in March 2015. The 30-year-old wasn’t arrested until August 1 when he was found living in Riverton.

On August 29, Detton waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He was later released from the Cache County Jail after posting $50,000 bail.

During Tuesday’s court appearance, Judge Brian Cannell ordered Detton to return to court on December 19.
