LOGAN — The Cache County Sheriff’s Office is trying to reassure the public after rumors began circulating on social media sites about two suspicious individuals. The men were allegedly driving a white van through neighborhoods, going door-to-door looking for women or children.
Sheriff Chad Jensen said there have been no reports of attempted abductions. On Monday, deputies located the van after receiving several calls about it going door-to-door.
“One of our patrol deputies actually made contact with the driver of the white box van and had found out it was company out of West Valley who was selling meat,” explained Jensen.
The van belongs to Intermountain Steak and Seafood.
Jensen said even though deputies found no reason for residents to be concerned about the situation, he appreciates the community’s vigilance, watching out in their neighborhoods.
“We welcome the phone calls and the concern from citizens. We will check out every single one of them. We would rather err on the side of caution than have a problem that didn’t get reported or that we didn’t respond to. We encourage everybody to call in anything that seems inappropriate or suspicious.”
The Sheriff’s Office also recommends that if you don’t feel safe talking to door-to-door sales men, it is best not to open your door.
