LOGAN – Applications for a second round of matching grants for out-of-area marketing and new event development are now available at the Cache Valley Visitor’s Bureau.
Executive Director Julie Hollist Terrill said nonprofit organizations may receive up to $1,500 in matching funds in two categories: the first toward advertising existing events in markets outside the area and the second for creating events that will entice visitors to spend at least one night in an area hotel.
She said preference is given to events held from Oct. 1 to May 15, traditionally slower months for local hotels.
“We’ve helped out with the snowmobile hill climb at Beaver Mountain,” she said. “One time we helped with a crazy cross country ski race up the canyon, also dog racing and the Cache County Center or the Arts.”
Hollist Terrill said the money for matching grants comes from transient room taxes collected by hotels in Cache County. The Cache Valley Visitors Bureau is located at 199 N. Main. More information is available at (435) 755-1890.
