Plan to do some shopping at Smith’s Marketplace on Logan’s Main Street on Saturday, November 11. James Boyd, development director for Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse (CAPSA), says by shopping there between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. you can also benefit victims of abuse.
Boyd says CAPSA workers will be there accepting donations that directly benefit citizens of our community who are victims of abuse.
“People know that CAPSA offers an emergency shelter for individuals – women, men, children – fleeing domestic violence and sexual assault,” Boyd explains. “Our shelter needs the same supplies a home does. We can hold up to 32 people and we’re often full.
“Those same things that you might need if you had a whole bunch of visitors coming to your home are things we’re looking for: towels, paper towels, cleaning supplies, toilet paper.”
Boyd says the shelter supply drive is held twice each year in a partnership CAPSA has with Smith’s Marketplace. He says it is a great way to increase awareness for this amazing organization that makes such a difference to those in need.
