It’s the Weekend 11/9/17

This is your guide to everything going on this weekend in Cache Valley. There are a number of events honoring our veterans, some musical performances and events to get you ready for the holidays.

The Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan is the site of the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Logan Holiday Gift Show</a> this Friday and Saturday. This annual holiday tradition features ideas for holiday gift giving, holiday décor and holiday treats all in one place. It costs only $2.00 and this year children 10 and under are free.

Green Canyon High School presents the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>musical “Anne of Green Gables”</a>. Performances are Thursday through Saturday and again on Monday evening, with a Saturday matinee.

Enjoy an open-mic celebration of local writers at this year’s <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Helicon West</a> Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Jim Bridger Room of the Logan Library. Creative writers are invited to read seven minutes of their original work.

Local schools will be having special veterans day assemblies <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Thursday</a> and <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Friday</a> as they pay tribute to veterans of military service.

The Cache County Senior Citizen Center is hosting a <a href=”;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>USO Veteran’s Day Dance</a> Thursday night at 6. It will feature big band swing dancing, food, and a fundraising opportunity for meals on wheels.

A special <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Veterans Day Memorial Concert</a> will be held in USU’s newly remodeled Daines Concert Hall at 7 p.m. Saturday. The American Festival Chorus combines with the USU Symphony Orchestra for this moving and reverent tribute to U.S. military men and women.

It’s getting darker earlier now. But that means the lights can stay on longer at <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Zootah</a>. <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Zoo Lights</a> is Cache County’s only public holiday light display. The thousands of lights turned on this week and can be seen every Friday, Saturday and Monday through the end of December.

If you want to help families trying to escape abuse, stop by Smith’s Marketplace on Saturday. CAPSA is holding a <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Stuff-the-Truck</a> event, accepting cash donations as well as diapers, towels, toiletries and more. Everything collected benefits victims of abuse in our community.

If you’re looking for pageantry, go to the <a href=”;p=1″ target=”_blank”>Miss Cache Valley</a> event Saturday night at the Ellen Eccles Theatre. The program is dedicated to empowering young women to achieve their personal, professional and educational goals.

In honor of a friend or relative, give an alternative gift of food, medicine, livestock or education at the <a href=”” target=”_blank”>Alternative Gift Market</a>. It takes place beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Logan.
