Doors open at seven o’clock Saturday morning at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds for the 9th Annual Community Cereal Sale to benefit United Way of Northern Utah.
With 15,000 bags and boxes of Post or Malt-O-Meal brand cereal selling for $1 each, Wendy Andersen of Post Consumer Brands said it is normal for lines to form Friday night.
“The last couple of years we’ve had people line up at 11 p.m. the night before, Friday night, or even midnight, that come from even the Idaho border.”
She said typically all 15,000 boxes or bags will be sold by 9 a.m.
“The record time that I recall was two years ago. We sold out in an hour and 20 minutes.”
There is a limit of 50 boxes or bags per person and it is cash only.
The event is open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. People need to bring along their own containers to transport their purchased products from the fairgrounds.
All proceeds from the sale will go to assist the United Way of Northern Utah in their efforts to better local communities.
