It’s the Weekend! – 9/28/17

There are some great events going on this weekend, from corn mazes to marching band competitions to dutch oven cookoffs.

You can welcome fall at the American West Heritage Center with their <a href=”https://www.awhc.org/index.php/corn-maze/” target=”_blank”>Corn Maze on the Farm</a>. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m., Fridays from 3-11 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. Admission also includes the BB gun range, human bumper balls, human foosball, bounce house and even more family fun activities. You can also ride the spooky train and the ponies while you’re there. It’s a full day of family fun you won’t want to miss.

This Friday is one of the biggest football games of the season for the Aggies as <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/sports/article_799f391a-a3bb-11e7-bce7-9bed8a0d7aed.html” target=”_blank”>Utah State takes on in-state rival BYU</a> on Merlin Olsen Field. If you can’t make it to the game, you can watch it on CBS Sports (Comcast (Utah): Ch. 269/753HD; DISH: Ch. 158; DirecTV: Ch. 221).

On Saturday, that stadium will be filled again, but this time with high school students from all over the area participating in the <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/event_b58fc7e8-9f54-11e7-a8e8-3b3f1fa41ecf.html” target=”_blank”>Bridgerland Band Invitational</a>. There will be 30 marching bands ranging in size from 30 students to 200 students. They will take the field throughout the day beginning at 10:50 a.m., including local schools Ridgeline (12:15 p.m.), Mountain Crest (2:15 p.m.) and Sky View (2:30 p.m.).

If you like Dutch Oven food you’ll want to check out the <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/event_5d08e522-9dc0-11e7-a3de-db7c2ae9a80f.html” target=”_blank”>Dutch Oven Cook Off</a> going on in Preston on Saturday. There will be tasty food, live music and all proceeds benefit the local food pantry. Everything starts at 5 p.m. in the Preston Bomgaars parking lot at 380 East 600 South.

If you’re looking for some live music this weekend, don’t miss <a href=”http://logannature.org/canyon-jams/” target=”_blank”>Canyon Jams</a> at the Stokes Nature Center at the mouth of Logan Canyon. The concert is Saturday night at 6 p.m. The featured band is Juniper Junction, which plays a mix of bluegrass, classic country, folk and rockabilly.

The Force is strong with the Ellen Eccles Theatre this Saturday. CacheARTS brings the <a href=”https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=79109″ target=”_blank”>One Man Star Wars Trilogy</a> to Logan. The show features the talents of comedian Charles Ross who single-handedly plays all the characters and covers all the plots of the original Star Wars trilogy in just over 60 minutes.

And something you’ll want to watch for early next week is <a href=”https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?actions=7&amp;p=8″ target=”_blank”>Thriller by the Odyssey Dance Company</a>. They perform Monday and Tuesday evening at the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
