Marathon to bring congestion around Island area

LOGAN — Saturday’s Top Of Utah Marathon will not only bring a lot of runners to Cache Valley but also a lot of spectators around the Island area. The crowds are expected to have an impact on traffic especially around Merlin Olsen Park.

Logan City Police Lt. Rod Peterson said residents in the Island area are being advised to avoid Center St. Motorists can use the Short Dugway, 600 E to 400 N. They can also drive east on Canyon Rd. to 1st Dam.

The detours are expected to last from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The course starts at Hardware Ranch and travels down Blacksmith Fork Canyon. Runners then will make their way north through Nibley, Millville, Providence and River Heights before finishing in Logan.
