Crews are continuing to monitor two fires burning on the Wellsville Mountains. Both the Honeyville and Nielson fires appear to be burning out.
The U.S. Forest Service reports the Honeyville Fire has burned 865 acres and is more than 55% contained. It is producing small amounts of smoke and crews are watching it to ensure it doesn’t spread. The fire has been burning since Sunday afternoon when it was allegedly sparked by someone who was in the area.
The Nielson fire was reported Wednesday. It has burned half an acre and is also not spreading.
Fire fighters are asking people to stay out of the area. They also advice everyone to be cautious around dry brush and grasses during the final days of summer.
