Craig Buttars discusses changes at fairgrounds

LOGAN – Toe-tapping music and historical tours will help bid farewell to four old exhibit buildings at this year’s Cache County Fair, which opens on Aug. 10 and continues through Aug. 12. Cache County Executive Craig Buttars said shortly after the Fair is over, the Home Arts Building, the 4-H Building, the Community Building and the Art Pavilion will all be torn down. A new 30,000-square-foot event center will replace them and open in time for the 2018 Cache County Fair.

“We are in the process of working out a job description for an events planner that will manage the new facility when it is finished,” he said. “In the next few months we’ll hire the events planner to begin scheduling and planning events that will take place in that new center.”

Buttars said a delightful musical celebration will be held at noon on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Fairgrounds Stage. He said the free event will look back on music over the last 138 years of the Fair. He hopes many will attend.
