Jenna Nilson jury trial rescheduled for October

Jeena Nilson, 58, arrested and charged with six counts of failing to register as a sex offender, a third-degree felony.

LOGAN — The three-day jury trial for Jeena Nilson has been rescheduled, as the 61-year-old Providence woman continues to fight allegations that she failed to update her sex offender registry. She’s previously pleaded not guilty of to four counts of failing to register as a sex-offender, a third-degree felony.

Nilson appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. Defense attorney Camille Neider told the court she needed the trial to be rescheduled after a previous trial in May was cancelled.

Judge Kevin Allen set the trial to begin October 12. He ordered Nilson to appear again September 11 for a final pre-trial conference.

In November 2002, Nilson was sentenced to one-to-15 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of sex abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

Prosecutors allege that after Nilson was released, she didn’t disclose her social media accounts in her sex offender registry. She also didn’t report a vehicle, and her employment or volunteer work at Altius Gymnastics Academy.

Rozann Moake, owner of the gymnastics school, has said her mother worked at the school but said the charges against her are false and spurred by people’s gossip.

During Monday’s court appearance, Neider told Judge Allen she expects to call several local citizens as witnesses during the trial.
